The purpose of this study is to verify the mediating effects of self-efficacy in the influence of professional identity on job satisfaction of play therapists. To achieve this, Korean Counselor Professional Identity Scale (K-CPIS), Counselling Self-Efficacy Scale (COSE), and the Job Satisfaction Scale were used for 159 play therapists working at institutions such as specialized child counseling centers, hospitals, or welfare centers in Korea. Collected data were analyzed by SPSS 26.0 and the Hayes' PROCESS macro ver. 4.2. The major results of this study were as follows. First, professional identity had positive correlations with self-efficacy and job satisfaction. In addition, self-efficacy had a significant positive correlation with job satisfaction. Second, self-efficacy had significant mediating effects in the influence of sub-factors of professional identity (professional knowledge and skills, roles and attitudes, and values and beliefs) on job satisfaction. In conclusion, this study facilitates understanding of the relationship between professional identity, self-efficacy, and job satisfaction by verifying the mediating effects of self-efficacy in the influence of professional identity on job satisfaction. Furthermore, in enhancing job satisfaction, the need of education and training related to professional identity and self-efficacy as a play therapist is suggested.
