This study aims to analyze the composition and content of mother-child musical play within the ‘Program Better Nutrition’ (PBN), an integrated nutritional intervention operated in low-resource areas of Mauritania, West Africa. The study investigates how musical activities suitable for resource-constrained environments function as strategic mechanisms in the implementation of nutritional interventions. Utilizing the Logic Model as a framework for program design and evaluation, the components and activity contents of the musical play were systematically structured. The results are as follows: First, the program established a sustainable foundation for implementation even in the absence of specialized professionals by utilizing local infrastructure and community health workers as primary resources through a multi-session modular system. In particular, the design based on simplicity, repetition, and progression provided a practical model that empowered local health workers to lead sessions independently according to standardized protocols. Second, in terms of content, the musical play offered interaction-centered emotional experiences and alleviated the psychological burden on caregivers, thereby establishing a ‘secure base’ that facilitated the seamless integration of nutritional practices into daily routines. These results demonstrate that the intervention functions as a critical supportive element that sustains the participatory structure and implementation processes of health programs in low-resource environments. The design principles and operational framework presented in this study are expected to serve as a significant practical reference for the integrated application of music in future community-based health interventions.
