초록

This study aims to empirically examine the relationships between civic participation of married immigrant women and social support from family, friends and neighbors, overall life satisfaction, and satisfaction with multicultural programs, and to explore the policy implications of these relationships. To achieve this purpose, survey data collected from married immigrant women was analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis. The results show that civic participation among married immigrant women tends to be higher among those with longer residence periods and lower income levels. In addition, social support from friends, neighbors and overall life satisfaction were found to have positive relationships with civic participation. In particular, social support from friends and acquaintances showed a relatively strong association with civic participation. These findings suggest that civic participation among married immigrant women is closely related to their social relationships and is also associated with their level of life satisfaction. Based on these findings, this study provides policy implications for promoting civic participation among married immigrant women.
