Objectives: This study examines the process of protection of sexually abused children in kinship relationships in South Korea through the eyes of victims. Methods: Eleven girls aged 13 through 19 who have been sexually abused in kinship relationships and living in special shelters were interviewed in depth. Data was categorized by research topic, and then disassembled, rearranged, and analyzed into systems between topics and within topics. Results: The victim was protected as a victim by seeing an expert. They generally felt uneasiness leaving the convenience of home and moved to the shelter without any information. At the shelter, they were embarrassed to know that the staff was well informed of their private information. Only after all the hardships did they come to understand the protection process. The lives in the shelter are perceived as a gift. However, they suffered from unwelcome peer relationship in the class at school, and the lingering fear about the perpetrator. Isolated from family, they were hungry for family news. Conclusions: Experts who work for children suffering from sexual abuse by kinship relationships need to understand the child's protection process step by step, and it is essential to ensure the child's psychological stability by continuously sending messages that they are being secured. This is recommended to the family so that children do not feel isolated and alone. Consideration of the method and degree of information will require an attitude that looks at the welfare and rights of the child.
