The purpose of this study is to investigate the moderating effects of supervisee attachment strategies on countertransference management and psychological burnout of play therapists. The subjects were comprised of 240 play therapists conducting play therapy in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, there was a negative correlation between psychological burnout and the total score for countertransference management ability and its sub-factors(self-insight, self-integration, anxiety management, empathy, conceptualizing). There was a positive correlation between psychological burnout and the total score for the supervisee attachment strategy and its sub-factors(avoidance, rejection). Moreover, there was a negative correlation between the total score for the supervisee attachment strategy and its sub-factors and the total score for countertransference management ability and its sub-factors. Second, it was found that among the sub-factors of the supervisee attachment strategy, avoidance had a meaningful moderating effect on the relationship between countertransference management ability and psychological burnout. The significance of this research lies in the fact that it verified the supervisee attachment strategy to be one of the protective factors in preventing psychological burnout amongst play therapists and that it provides the basis for intervention in consideration of the supervisee attachment strategy in the supervision process.
