초록
Time is a finite resource, but its distribution and use vary by gender, social status, and class. Accordingly, the concept of time-poverty, which expresses the insufficient free time given to lead a humane life, emerged. Drawing on the premise that time use differs significantly by gender, this study investigates how among dual-income couples affects women’s satisfaction with their work-family balance. Using data from the 9th wave(2022) of the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families(KLoWF), this study employed multiple regression analysis to test the research model. The key findings are as follows.: First, women’s experience of time-poverty had a statistically significant negative effect on their work-family balance satisfaction. Second, women’s subjective perceptions of family life, such as happiness and economic status satisfaction, had a significant effect on their work–family balance satisfaction. Third, among family-related variables, the number of preschool children had a significant effect on women’s work-family balance satisfaction. This study highlights the persistent gender disparity in time use within dual-income households and underscores the need for institutional and policy-level interventions to alleviate time poverty and promote gender-equitable family support systems.
