여행 거리두기, 자기 거리두기와 지속가능성의 관계
초록
Purpose This study extends self-distancing theory by arguing that travel evokes self-distancing not only intrapsychically, but also through enacted spatial, temporal, and cultural distance. Methods This study adopted a hermeneutic approach and text analysis to examine phenomena that cannot be fully explained through simple observation alone. Rather than treating text as a mere source of information, it regarded text as meaning-laden and interpreted its underlying meanings. Raising the question of whether common patterns underlie travelers’ transformation, the study applied hermeneutics and employed a spiraling interpretive process, moving iteratively between text and theory in a purposive literature review. Results Greater distance from everyday routines heightens sensory-cognitive sensitivity, attentional focus, and cognitive arousal, thereby facilitating perspective transformation. When positive travel experiences are internalized and affectively rewarded, they become more likely to be repeated, enabling reciprocal reinforcement between travel and everyday life in support of healthier and more sustainable practices. Conclusion This study proposes a conceptual model in which physical distancing during travel fosters inner self-distancing, which extends into everyday life and supports sustainable lifestyle change. Future research may test how perceived distance, momentary awareness, and perspective transformation encourage sustainable post-travel behaviors. Such efforts may help identify strategies for maximizing these factors.
