This study employed the Q methodology to examine the perceptions of school counselors-in-training regarding the use of AI-based psychological counseling tools. A total of 37 Q samples were derived, and 25 participants were selected as the P sample to conduct Q-sorting. Data were analyzed using the PC QUANL program. The results revealed three distinct types of perceptions toward the use of AI-based counseling tools: Type 1, the “Function-Centered Pragmatic type”; Type 2, the “Ethics-Oriented Professional Practice type”; and Type 3, the “Human-Centered Deliberative type.” Through this study, the perceptions of school counselors-in-training regarding the utilization of AI-based counseling tools were identified. Furthermore, the findings hold significance as foundational data for developing educational strategies and establishing a basis for the effective integration of AI-based counseling tools in training future professional school counselors.
