This study investigated the impact of work-family balance and personal psychological characteristics, such as emotional exhaustion and role conflict, on job satisfaction among women who have experienced career discontinuity and re-employment. For this purpose, a survey was conducted on 236 currently employed women who had experienced career discontinuity regarding work-family balance, job satisfaction, emotional exhaustion, and role conflict. The study's main findings are as follows: Firstly, work-family balance did not directly affect job satisfaction among women. Secondly, work-family balance had a negative indirect effect on job satisfaction through emotional exhaustion. Specifically, as work-family balance increased, emotional exhaustion among organizational members decreased, leading to higher job satisfaction. Thirdly, work-family balance had a negative indirect effect on job satisfaction through role conflict. As work-family balance increased, role conflict within the organization decreased, resulting in higher job satisfaction. These findings demonstrate that the low job satisfaction among women who have experienced career discontinuity, a social issue, is influenced by emotional exhaustion and role conflict, which in turn are mediated by the work-family balance corporate culture.
