민주주의의 창의적 실현 여정과 ‘사회적 영성’ 회복의 과제

Creative Journey of Democracy and the Need to Restore “Social Spirituality”

초록

This study argues that the creative solidarity formed among individual agents during the December 3rd martial law embodies an integration of creativity and spirituality. This phenomenon not only broadens the horizon of Korean democracy but also underscores the imperative of inner democratic maturation. By illuminating the significance of the December 3rd martial law, the study highlights creative solidarity and “social spirituality” as essential elements for advancing Korea’s democratic development from within. The foundation of creative solidarity lies in creativity, which manifests through the communication of human experiences, thoughts, and emotions aimed at achieving holistic self-understanding. Such creativity sustains belief in individual uniqueness, openness to others, and awareness of the interconnectedness of self and others. This spiritual dimension rejects artificial boundaries and separations, fosters free communication, and encourages collective pursuit of the common good. Spirituality, grounded in a belief in fundamental human connectedness, aligns with the core democratic values of equality and relationality. The study emphasizes that this spirituality must extend beyond personal internalization to achieve social embodiment, particularly through the lens of Christian thought.
