Purpose This study explored the verbalization of bodily sensations and the formation of self-understanding through AI-based self-dialogue reflection following somatic yoga experiences among female university students. Methods Participants were 25 female students enrolled in a liberal arts yoga course at S University. A 15-week somatic yoga program was implemented, and data from reflective journals, AI-based self-dialogue, and in-depth interviews were analyzed using Colaizzi’s phenomenological method. Results Four essential themes emerged: deepened bodily awareness, transformation of bodily sensations into structured language, breathing as a mediator of self-regulation, and expanded self-understanding recognizing the body as a subject. AI-based self-dialogue functioned as a reflective mediator supporting experiential meaning-making. Conclusion Combining somatic yoga with AI-based self-dialogue promoted bodily sensation verbalization and a cyclical process of awareness, self-regulation, and self-understanding, highlighting the educational potential of AI in body-based liberal arts education.
