초록
This study explored the characteristics and cultural significance of seasonal liquors (Sesiju) recorded in prose-type Sesigitexts of the late Joseon dynasty using text mining techniques. Five representative Sesigi texts translated and published by theNational Folk Museum of Korea were analyzed. Records related to seasonal liquors were extracted and examined usingfrequency analysis, Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) analysis, and network analysis. A total of 22seasonal liquors and related drinking and brewing practices were identified. Gwibalgi-sul showed the highest frequency, indicating that it was the most frequently recorded seasonal liquor in the analyzed texts. The TF-IDF analysis identifiedGukhwaju as the most distinctive keyword. In the seasonal occasion–liquor network, the third lunar month emerged as thecentral node linking the greatest diversity of seasonal liquors. In contrast, the seasonal liquor-cultural function network showedthat Ritual had the highest centrality, highlighting the importance of seasonal liquors in ritual practices. These findings suggestthat seasonal liquors in the late Joseon dynasty were not merely beverages consumed on festive occasions but importantcultural elements reflecting agricultural cycles, seasonal rituals, health beliefs, and community life.
