초록

This study is designed to explore the causes of sport dropout among female highschool basketball players. The in-depth interview, one of the qualitative research methods, was conducted to 8 female highschool basketball dropout students and total 223 raw data were collected. As a result of content analysis, 4 general categories as physical, psychological, emotional, and social factors, and 13 sub-categories as physical punishment, physical injury, lack of athletic ability, disadvantageous physical condition, absence of communication, indifference, anxiety, shame, frustration, fear, lack of college teams, lack of information, and social prejudice, were identified. This study has its importance in providing a positive direction to instruct student players in more effective ways through understanding student players' practical responses. In addition, Many of the participations of this study showed that some time after drop out from their sports carrier, they started to realize the situation and showed good adaption to the life but some of the participation showed depression and non adaption to the society or exclusion.
