초록
The number of multicultural families is rapidly increasing in South Korea. Due to this social transformation currently taking place in our society, revaluation of our schooling on a specific subject, multicultural education, became a crucial task. Based on Charles Taylor’s view of community, this study examined the elementary school moral subject as a study means to evaluate the current schooling on multicultural education. Methods and Design of our study is listed below. First, we thoroughly examined the writings, interviews, and publications of Taylor and deduced his view. He has developed his theory based on the main concepts: self, common goods, and hypergoods. Therefore, we concisely discussed his theory based on these concepts. Second, we reviewed the school textbooks, and teacher’s manuals of the elementary moral subject of 3-6 grades. Third, from the view of Taylor, we scrutinized the current status of the schooling on multicultural education in the elementary school moral subject.
