초록
The purpose of this study is to examine the influences of Alkan and Godowsky in Marc-André Hamelin’s piano solo collection <12 Études in All the Minor Keys>(1986-2009). Alkan and Godowsky were composer-pianists of the 19th and early 20th centuries, respectively, who contributed to the expansion of the latency of piano with their high-level technique and musical style. Alkan composed <12 Études in All the Minor Keys>(1857), and Hamelin was inspired by this to complete a collection of works of the same title. In addition, the collection contains the influence of Godowsky in various ways. In this work which contains the compilation of influences from the forebears and Hamelin’s original ideas, this research focuses on the works related to Alkan and Godowsky, looking at the way in which Hamelin developed old traditions into his own language. Through this, the research is to identify the point where the past and modern pianism meet, present a new repertoire to the performers, and consider the desirable stance of the performers living in the present.
