This study analyzed the effect of obtaining qualifications of college graduates from specialized high schools on the initial labor market transition using data from the Korea Employment Information Service's Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey. As a result of the analysis, qualification retention of college graduates from specialized high schools did not have a significant effect on employment and wages. However, among the five models based on the characteristics of qualification holding that were applied to the analysis of the employment effect and wage effect of qualifications, it was found that holding the qualification acquired while attending a specialized high school negatively affects the employment effect and the wage effect. It can be seen that although college graduates from specialized high schools obtained their qualifications early before entering college, they are not particularly helpful for employment and wages compared to other general college graduates after graduation. We suggests that young people preparing for employment should acquire qualifications selectively according to their career path and purpose of employment rather than obtaining qualifications as part of vaguely accumulating specifications.
