Objectives: This study aims to examine the relationship between the rights-respecting practices of community child centers and school adjustment outcomes. The goal here is to verify the dual mediating effect of children’s rights consciousness and a sense of community. Methods: The subjects of this study are 515 children who participated in the second and third waves of the Community Child Center Panel (third stage). For the analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation modeling, and a phantom model are used. Results: First, the analysis showed that the rights-respecting practices of community child centers had a positive effect on the school adjustment. Second, the rights-respecting practices of community child centers directly influenced school adjustment through children’s rights consciousness. Third, the rights-respecting practices of community child centers appeared to affect school adjustment through a sense of community. Lastly, children’s rights consciousness and sense of community showed a dual mediating effect in the relationship between the rights-respecting practices of community child centers and school adjustment. Conclusions: Based on these results, we suggest the need for systematic education on the guarantee of children’s rights applicable to community child centers in practice. Another suggestion is the development and distribution of programs to improve and expand the level of awareness of children’s rights at community child centers.
