This study explores the potential for expanding educational practice by analyzing Waldorf education from a New Materialism perspective. Waldorf education emphasizes harmony with nature and highly values the process in which children freely explore and acquire learning. In this educational context, the environment is regarded as an important backdrop for learning but is not recognized as an active subject of learning. In Waldorf education, children and teachers are the primary subjects of learning. In contrast, New Materialism argues that the environment and materials actively participate as agents in the learning process. Thus, this study reinterprets Waldorf education through the lens of New Materialism, focusing on the active roles materials and environments play in the learning process. The purpose is to explore new practical possibilities in early childhood education settings. Through this research, the researcher observed interactions between human and non-human elements (environment, objects) in children's play, analyzing the roles materials play. The study confirmed that materials such as branches, grain bags, beech nuts, and snail ropes act not merely as tools but as active agents shaping play and learning. Furthermore, the study discussed how storytelling activities in Waldorf education create learning experiences through sensory and emotional immersion, intertwined with materials and sensory engagement. Additionally, play materials as extended thin agents facilitated co-creation with children, enriching and diversifying the learning process. This research, by analyzing Waldorf education through a New Materialist perspective, significantly expands our understanding of the interactions among humans, environments, and materials, thereby broadening possibilities for play and learning in early childhood educational contexts.
