This paper classifies the typical types of Korean fixed pragmatic expressions often used by native Korean speakers under the specific situation and examines the essential features. This study discusses request, refusal, apology, gratitude, and compliment expressions. To collect materials for study, this paper extracts Korean fixed pragmatic expressions from television serial drama scripts near to daily conversation. Using a questionnaire designed to examine how Korean native speakers used Korean fixed pragmatic expressions in daily conversation, I examined 160 men and women and then conducted depth interviews 16 of the respondents. I compared the using aspects of Korean fixed pragmatic expressions by generation and gender. This paper considers sociolinguistic features and language culture of Korean fixed pragmatic expressions in each type based on generation and gender differences. The comparative analysis of this study can be utilized as Korean semantic and sociolinguistic research materials, besides, it can also be used as an educational resource for Korean pragmatics.
