초록

This paper explores the importance of rational factors such as ideas, knowledge about political freedom in Machiavelli’s understanding of discord, and examines the relationship between those rational factors and discord. Emphasizing the rational factors of discord, I suggest that the discord can be understood as the rational noiseness of politics throughout words, dialogue, and discussion beyond the “Irrational Noiseness of Politics” which is of full of irrational sounds, such as shouting, crying, and gunfire. Ultimately, this paper aims to reveal the rational aspect of Machiavelli’s understanding of discord, presenting the rational noiseness of politics. In addition, I examine the limitations of Machiavelli’s political thought which has gone beyond ancient political philosophy but has not reached modern political philosophy, by presenting the figures of the people who are the subjects of “Irrational Noiseness of Politics” and also the subjects of the rational noiseness of politics.
