초록
Quentin Tarantino(1963~) unfolds his own unique world of works by repeating, transforming, and renovating the customary practices and B movie sensibility of genre films. In particular, Inglourious Basterds(2009) is purposefully reminiscent of 'Spaghetti Westerns', gangster films, and war films of the 1960s. In this film, Tarantino unfolds his own original narrative—a dream of alternative-historical revenge against the Nazis—while utilizing not only the genre grammar already familiar to the public, but also typical B movie sensibility. In this context, this paper discusses how the film employs genre-style grammar to deliberately evoke famous scenes from the history of the film, expresses a willingness to claim the label of B movie, and contains an alternative historical narrative in which characters seek to cruelly punish the Nazis. In this process, the genre of film itself may reveal the attributes of B movie, but it will be revealed that it is an “all-powerful and sacred” area that achieves revenge against the Nazis, which have not been able to accomplish actual history.
