Objectives: This study aims to examine the effect of adverse childhood experiences(ACEs) on suicidal ideation among adolescents and verify the mediating effects of depression and anxiety, moderated by peer attachment and school connectedness. Methods: This study analyzed data from 315 adolescents and their families, collected in 2021 through the Korea Welfare Panel Study(KWPS) conducted by the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs. Results: First, the direct effect of ACEs on adolescents’ suicidal ideation was confirmed. Second, the indirect effect of ACEs on adolescents’ suicidal ideation through depression and anxiety was observed. Third, peer attachment exhibited a negative moderating effect on depression and anxiety. Additionally, the mediating effect of depression and anxiety, moderated by peer attachment, was confirmed in the relationship between ACEs and suicidal ideation. Conclusion: This study is significant as it elucidates the pathways through which accumulated negative factors influence suicidal ideation among adolescents. Based on the study results, policy and practical implications for adolescents and their families were discussed.
