The purpose of this study was to examine the nature of the practical experience of students majoring in music therapy who participated in the music therapy practice course and to reveal the meaning of this experience. Eight students in the music therapy master"s program participated in this study, and 12 sub-components and six upper-level components were derived through the phenomenological research method analysis based on data sourced through in-depth interviews conducted by researchers. The results confirmed that students majoring in music therapy had a meaningful experience in music therapy identity, attitude, and preparation as a student music therapist, and in fostering relationships with clients. However, they received insufficient support from the training institution, and growth according to their training experience. These results confirmed the importance of providing advanced guidelines and directions for the practical curriculum to provide an early experience to music therapy students and thus enable them to grow into music therapists with a higher level of professional competence.
