초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effects of emotion dysregulation on the relationships between mother-adolescent communication style, peer relationship quality, and maladaptive game use. The subjects of this study were 270 male students attending middle schools in the metropolitan area. The collected data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation analysis and regression analysis using SPSS 25.0. First, the results of multiple regression analysis showed that the higher level of the mother-adolescents’ open communication and the lower level of the mother-adolescents’ closed communication significantly affected the lower level of the adolescents’ maladaptive game use. Second, as a result of using PROCESS macro by Hayes(2013) and bootstrapping method, emotion dysregulation mediated the relationships between a mother-adolescents’ closed communication and maladaptive game use. In conclusion, this study highlighted the importance of mother-adolescents’ communication style and emotion regulation to alleviate the male adolescents’ use of maladaptive games.
