The enlightenment period in Korea was the times of adjustment process and the rise of a new value system against the male-dominated moral viewpoints of the Confucian society. Along with such a trend, the discussion of equal chances of school education for women was activated so that the education of women could be institutionalized and stabilized systematically. This study attempted to analyze the features of women's education and the textbooks for women based on essential features and the background of the formation of women's education, the subject and deduced main goal of the textbooks for women. I analyzed the main subjects of the textbooks for women during the enlightenment period in Korea. There were several significant meanings that were applied to national and social women. It inspired the rights and the responsibilities of women as a citizen, advocated the dignity of human begins by underlining the perception of gender equality, and promoted scientific attitudes based on rationality and principles.
