The purpose of this study is to investigate start-up decision process of Korean university students who experience decision process as a task for entering adulthood. To identify the subjective experience of university students who were preparing and planning to start their own businesses, one-on one interview were conducted with 10 participants. The data were analyzed through a constant comparative analysis method. The results were as follows: First, the affecting factors in the start-up decision process were entrepreneurial tendencies, successful role models, start-up education and start-up club activities. Second, there were difficulties in taking start-up items, raising funds and professional personnel as prerequisites for start-up. Third, they had difficulty in preparing their business because of a lack of start-up support, which is a necessary condition for a start-up. Finally, participants had additional derivative problems derived from start-up decision. Based on the results of these studies, in the case of career counseling and education, the implications of support to preliminary start-up for college students’ their own businesses were presented.
