This study aimed to examine the relationship between the psychological well-being of young adults with “health problems” and their sociodemographic characteristics, stress-related characteristics, social support characteristics, and health constraints. Psychological well-being was specified as suicidal ideation and happiness. The research data from 321 unmarried young adults aged 19–34 who had restrictions on their daily lives due to mental and physical health issues, as reported in the 2022 Youth Life Survey. We conducted descriptive statistical analysis, difference analysis, multinomial logistic regression analysis, and multiple regression analysis. First, suicidal thoughts among young adults with health problems were significantly higher when they experienced high levels of burnout, perceived low levels of freedom of choice in life and low likelihood receiving help from family support, and when they experienced mental health problems or mental and physical health problems rather than physical limitations. On the other hand, the happiness of young adults with health issues were higher among women, those with no experience of burnout, those with greater freedom of choice in life, those with greater likelihood of family support, and those with physical limitations rather than mental limitations. This study focuses on “young people in pain,” a topic that has not been addressed in previous studies, and examines factors related to their psychological well-being. By addressing diverse health-related constraints, the findings provide a nuanced understanding of young adults’ health and offer evidence to inform targeted interventions.
