초록

The purpose of this study is to explore the value of art that artists think, and to study the questions about art as an art economy and the needs and perceptions of artists welfare laws felt by artists. Regarding the subject of this study, the research procedure is a qualitative case study by selecting pure artists who can explain the characteristics of the study as a case study and an examination on John Ruskin's art economy theory and national art welfare system, and FGD(Focus Group Discussion) through semi-structured questions so that I can state my experiences and thoughts as an artist. Therefore, this study was conducted by selecting artists based in Korea and abroad as research participants for full-time artists who have an identity as an artist as a profession for more than 10 years. The results of the study are summarized as follows. First, there is a special habitus in the art world, and the reason artists continue their artistic activities as a profession is that they give priority to the sense of mission or value they have in realizing the artistic act that they have cultivated throughout their lives. Second, since performing pure art implies that the 'act' of art itself includes social values, it is necessary to establish the role and awareness of the artist so that artistic activity is justified as an art economy in the labor market and the proper functions of art consumer goods are normally operated. Third, there was a perception that the Korean Artist Welfare Act was difficult in terms of effectiveness, such as a rather complicated procedure and the need to prove that it was the lowest class in the comparison of the perceptions of artist welfare between artists working in Korea and those working abroad. Therefore, this study emphasizes the need for an effective artist welfare law by understanding and reflecting the habitus of the art world as a future suggestion, and describes the limitations of this study and the direction of follow-up research.
