초록

The purpose of this study is to deeply understand middle-aged men who have experienced occupational crisis. The was aimed to promote a specific and individual understanding of middle-aged men by exploring how the occupational crises have been made and reconstructed into each individual’s life. For this purpose, narrative inquiry was applied on 2 middle-aged men and their experiences of overcoming occupational crisis. The case of the participants in this study to overcome occupational crises are as follows: Eom Eui-chul was faced with the existential choice of reinstatement as the occupational crisis was perceived as a desperation that he can no longer hold out. He also embarked on a journey of finding his own life by discovering various identities within his self-awareness through the occupational crisis. Kim-Jun, ending up with huge account receivables within 2 years, regretted starting a business and experienced anxiety and depression due to financial pressures. He overcame his anxiety by returning to God and began an ethical encounter with his family through distancing. Through the stories of middle-aged men who experienced occupational crises, this study provides insights for counselling with in-depth understanding of individual experiences of them. It is also meaningful in providing more specific and practical information needed to create social alternatives for them
