Purpose: This study aims to examine the aesthetic significance of 'Giselle's Sorrows or FlowerCeremony' compared to the original 'Giselle' and to compare and analyze the aesthetics and ritualsexpressed in these works. Methods: After examining the theoretical basis through qualitative research,we attempted a dance analysis approach through video. Results: First, aesthetic analysis revealed the aesthetic meaning of death, the aesthetics of the soul through the space of the Willi and the Shaman, and the aesthetics of sorrow. Second, ritualistically, it possesses a ritual structure for purification of death and sorrow, as well as the ritualistic nature of a requiem dance. Third, a comparison of ritualistic elements confirmed the presence of purification rituals addressing death and sorrow, the use of symbolic objects and repetitive movements, collective empathy and emotional sublimation, and a transcendental structure that transcends the boundaries between life and death. Conclusion: The performance of ‘Giselle’s Sorrows or Flower Ceremony’ is not a simple combination of styles, but rather an exploration of new artistic possibilities through the collision and intersection of Eastern and Western cultures, emotions, and modes of expression. Furthermore, by weaving together the emotions of sorrow, salvation, and love from the East and the West through dance, it provides the audience with a rich experience that allows them to experience diverse cultural backgrounds both sensorially and intellectually, and it is considered to have significant significance in terms of dialogue and artistic reinterpretation between Eastern and Western cultures.
