초록

Work experience program is one of the important programs of the Free Semester system which was introduced to strengthen the Career Education Course. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of community-based work experience of middle school students on career information exploration and rational decision making. The subjects of this study were 578 middle school students in Junglang-gu and Dongdaemun-gu of Seoul. They were divided into experimental group who participated in community-based work experience(289 students) and controlled group who didn't participated(289 students). Each group was measured two times, a pre-test, a post-test two weeks later. The study employed SPSS version 21 for statistical analyses, descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANCOVA analysis to examine the evaluation. The results of this study are as follows: Even though there was no significant difference between the experimental group and controlled group in the pre-test scores. At post test, the experimental group statistically reported significant improvements on their career information exploration and rational decision making in a state of control of pre-test scores.
