As the commercial economy was vitalized during the Qing Dynasty, business partners in the same industry built a number of partnership halls in central commercial areas such as Beijing for the benefit of their industry. The theater actors of the Qing Dynasty also built a partnership hall to promote their own interests and called it ‘Liyuan-Huiguan’. However, it was mainly called ‘Jingzhongmiao’ since the ‘Liyuan-Huiguan’ in Beijing was established in Jingzhongmiao Temple, a shrine dedicated to Yuefei. Jingzhongmiao Temple was located next to ‘Xishen Temple’ which enshrines the actors’ occupation deities and ‘Liyuan-Huiguan’ was installed and operated within this Xishen Temple. Strictly speaking, it would be appropriate to call it “Jingzhongmiao-Liyuan-Huiguan” or “Xishen-Liyuan-Huiguan”. Since the Qing Dynasty, however, people have called it ‘Jingzhongmiao’ and ‘Jingzhongmiao’ has become the nickname of Liyuan-Huiguan. ‘JJingzhongmiao Liyuan-Huiguan’ started out as a voluntary partnership of actors during the Kang-hee period in the early Qing Dynasty to pursue the interests of actors by proceeding their own work. In addition, at the end of the Qing, it expanded its function as an unofficial administrative organization that directly executed the government's theater policy in the private sector. This can be the result of the combination of an extensive popularity and the rapid development of Peking Opera in the Qing Dynasty.
