A Study on the Teachers’ Perceptions of the Talent in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution: Focusing on a Discourse of Capabilities Pursued in Education

This study aims at figuring out and classifying common characteristics of a leadership model based on teachers’ subjective perception of how they consider leadership model in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The research method employs Q-methodology to comprehend teachers’ perception on a leadership model in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. For Q sample, a total of 33 Q-statements are adopted through literature reviews, precedent studies, and in-depth interviews regarding perception. P samples for the research are 30 elementary and middle school teachers who have more than 10 years’ experience in education, while Q-sorting and in-depth interviews are conducted. Data analysis is carried out using QUANL program to analyze main factors and related types. The results suggest four types of teachers’ perception on a leadership model in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The first type of the leaders has emotional empathetic intelligence, the second type has convergence thinking intelligence, the third type has revolutionary challenge intelligence, and the fourth type has comprehensive thinking intelligence. The research results are significant in that teachers’ perception types on a discourse of new leadership model in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution are identified with a subjective point of view and a search for new methods on leader education is discussed in public. In addition, the results are expected to be used for development and support of education programs, a way of teaching and learning, and evaluations.
