초록

Both of the East and the West, flowers have naturally existed in the human environment far before men had special interest in them. They have been frequently used as main subjects and materials in various genres of arts. However, it hasn't been long since flowers themselves have been established as part of formative arts. Due to the great amount of interest in arts and culture in general, diverse and broad interest in arts have also positively influenced the area of floral arts and Design. It can't be overlooked that the expanded recognition of artists and appreciators gradually have contributed to the acknowledgement of floral arts and design as formative arts. The narrow view for floral arts and design as merely 'floral arrangement' has been changing. Therefore, floral arts and designs now are in charge of transforming it's former concept which has simply ornamental function. Besides, creative activity is a must on the basis of artistic inspiration and formative principle as well as its specialization and academic curriculum for floral arts and design. This paper shows overall understanding of wreath design which is a part of the floral arts and design. This study's ultimate purpose is to propose right conception of floral arts and design and to acknowledge its value from the side of formative arts and design with analysis of wreath design as formative arts.
