This study aimed to examine the sequential double mediating effects of self-concept clarity and fear of missing out (FoMO) in the relationship between covert narcissism and relationship addiction among early adults. A total of 365 adults aged 19 to 39 years participated in a survey, and the collected data were analyzed using SPSS 28.0 and PROCESS macro 4.3. The results indicated that covert narcissism had a significant effect on relationship addiction, and both self-concept clarity and fear of missing out showed significant mediating effects. In addition, the sequential double mediating effect of self-concept clarity and fear of missing out in the relationship between covert narcissism and relationship addiction was found to be significant. These findings suggest that relationship addiction may develop through the interaction of cognitive and emotional vulnerabilities, rather than being explained solely by personality traits. Furthermore, this study provides foundational evidence for the prevention of relation ship problems in early adulthood and for the development of psychosocial interventions, counseling, and psychotherapy programs.
