Effects of alloying elements of Fe80P13C7 alloys on thermal and soft magnetic properties

The effects of adding alloying elements to melt-spun Fe80P13C7-based ribbons on their amorphous nature, thermal ability, and soft magnetic properties were examined. We inferred that substituting Si, Ge, Sn, and Sb for P in these alloys could enhance their thermal stability, while excessive substitution would degrade their amorphous-forming ability (AFA). Additionally, the ribbon-shaped amorphous Fe80P13-xC7Mx (M = Si, Si0.5Ge0.5, Ge, Sn, or Sb and x = 0-6 at. %) alloys exhibited noticeable soft magnetic properties, featured by a high saturation magnetization (M-s). Particularly, the content of additional element Ge increased the Curie temperature (T-c), resulting in a higher M-s of up to 1.57 T.
