Purpose This study uses the ERIST model, which adds technological factors to the ERIS model, which analyzes startup success factors, as its research framework. It applies this model to a case study company, a technology-based AI startup, and conducts an in-depth analysis of the company's data for each factor. The goal is to identify the success factors of the case study company, as reflected in the entrepreneur, resources, industrial environment, strategy, and technology factors. Methods This study conducted an exploratory case analysis, a qualitative research method, by collecting secondary data including online documents related to the research company, information posted on the company's official website, interview articles with relevant individuals, and external articles including media reports. The collected data were systematically classified and analyzed by dividing into five key categories suggested by the ERIST model: entrepreneur, resource, industrial environment, strategy, and technology, and derived research results. Results As a result of applying the ERIST model, the case company showed that it is completed through organic interaction with technology factors, going beyond the existing ERIS model that entrepreneur, resource, industrial environment, and strategies interact in generating the performance of AI startups. Conclusion The success factors of AI startups were derived by applying the ERIST model that added technology factor to the ERIS model used to analyze success factors of existing startups or ventures. This study is expected to be used to analyze the success factors of various AI-based tech companies in the future.
