2-Hydroxy-5-(3-phenethylthiocarbamoyloxypentyl)benzoic acid methyl ester(2) was designed, synthesized and evaluated as a vanilloid receptor antagonist. Compound 2 did not show an antagonist activity up to 30 μM concentration in ^(45)Ca^(2+) -influx assay.
