This study examines the effectiveness of coaching-based extracurricular programs to explore the potential of coaching as an advanced liberal arts program and to discuss the development direction of coaching programs for university students. To this end, focus group interviews and career decision-making self-efficacy assessments were conducted with participants. The results of the study indicated that both coaches and coachees found the coaching-based extracurricular programs helpful in concretizing coaching issues and resolving recognized issues. Coaches highlighted recognition and support from the coach as the main factors for perceiving these effects. In terms of program design and operation, it was noted that clearly guiding the coaching procedures and starting each session with a coaching agreement allowed for a focus on the coaching process itself. Furthermore, the coachee group recognized the effectiveness of coaching in improving career decision-making self-efficacy and experiencing cognitive shifts during the coaching process.
