초록
The purpose of this study was to investigate the children's character strength perceived by child and school happiness factors, and to explore the influence of children's character strength upon children's school happiness. The participants of this study were 365(4-, 5-, 6- grade) elementary school students from Seoul and Gyeonggi-do province. The instrument for measuring children's character strength and school happiness were VIA-IS(Value in Action-Inventory Strength)(Kim, 2006) and Korean School Happiness Scale(Kim & Kim, 2008). The collected data were analyzed by t-test, one way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation Analysis, and Multiple Regression Analysis. First, there were no significant differences by the gender, the grade, the family type, the existence and nonexistence of brothers and sisters, and the existence and nonexistence of working parents. Second, there were significant correlations for the most part between children's character strength factors and school happiness factors. Third, to analyze how convincing the sub-factors of signature strength for the school happiness are, the spirituality of signature strength sub-factor affect the most on the relationship with friends, the enthusiasm of signature strength sub-factor affect the most on the relationship with teacher, self-efficacy, satisfaction the environment, and pleasure of academic activity, the self-regulation of signature strength sub-factor affect the most on emotional stability. To analyze how convincing the sub-factors of virtue for the school happiness are, the transcendence of virtue sub-factor affect the most on the relationship with friends, relationship with teacher,self-efficacy, satisfaction of environment, and pleasure of academic activity, the temperance of virtue sub-factors affect the most on the emotional stability.
