The Influence of Morality and Self-Efficacy on School Engagement: Testing the Moderated Mediation Effect of Teacher's Autonomy Support

This study examined the mediation effect of self-efficacy and the moderated medication effect of teacher's autonomy support on the relationship between morality and school engagement of adolescents. A sample of 251(boy=120, girl=131) middle school students participants in the study. Data was analyzed with SPSS 23.0 and SPSS Macro. The results were as follows. First, the partial mediation effect of self-efficacy was found on the relationship between morality and school engagement. Second, the moderation effect of teachers' autonomy support was found between self-efficacy and school engagement. At last, the mediation effect of morality on school engagement through self-efficacy was moderated by teachers' autonomy support. In sum, the results indicate that self-efficacy and teachers' autonomy support represent a important constructs in determining the influence of morality on school engagement. The implications were further discussed.
