This research is a single case study seeking the causes of failure of a business model that has been well known to possess both business feasibilities and capabilities but withdrawn in three years. This research tries to represent varied results in the evaluation of business model comparing existing criterion methods including the concept of business ecosystem. More specifically, initially this research figures what business activities were involved in the decision making process of adapting a business model based on a step-wise design, build, and operation. Secondly, it suggests strategic guidelines to establish a decision-making process taking advantage of the business ecosystem concepts. This research employees a single case study method in order to drive the specific interests of current business phenomenon since the notion of study in a business ecosystem is still in the exploratory level. Through the case study, this research examines how the key decisions were made, why these were executed, and elucidated the results of these processes. To state major implications in a scholastic view, it provides future research ideas regarding business ecosystems. For the practitioner, this research contributes practical guidelines for establishing and operating a new business model in the setting of the business ecosystem.
