This study aimed to elucidate the mass media function of dance and changes in the consumption space of dance through TikTok and short-form culture, focusing on Virilio’ s notion of 'art of speed' and Baudrillard concept of 'transesthétique'. The detailed research questions are as follows: First, changes in the consumption space of dance in accordance to TikTok and short-form culture; Second, the mass media function of dance in the short-form era; Third, transesthétique of dance in the culture of speed and image. The proportion of hits (or view counts) hold by short-form in the video media market is clearly prominent and high enough to change the trend of video culture. Therefore, we attempted to explore the characteristics of network homogeneity from a philosophical point of view by connecting the characteristics of short-form culture, such as 'speed' and 'everyday use of aesthetics', with the content of dance. Given how the consumption of short video content platforms such as TikTok are increasing these days, this topic may serve as an interpretive basis for understanding video culture within social media and the newly changed trends of dance.
