초록
Using the National Assessment of Student Engagement in Learning(NASEL) this study examines a typology of college students' engagement with activities in and outside college and its different distributions based on individual and institutional characteristics. The subsample is comprised of 38,208 students. We could find that a) 5 student groups were obtained from hierarchical cluster analysis – positive engagers, negative engagers, class-centered engagers, outside class-centered engagers, peer relation-centered engagers, and b) Different distributions in gender, first-generation college students, college size and location, and students' major existed in the 5 student groups. We discussed that this study's findings could help faculty and college administrators improve students’ success.
