The purpose of this study is firstly to derive valid indicators of measuring job characteristics and job satisfation in artistic field and secondly to aseess what charateristics influence job satisfaction of mebmers of small scale tradtional persforming arts company. Survival and sustainability has become most important concern for the arts leaders of small companies with saturation of the market and aggravating competition. Traditional arts companies where priorities were set on artsitic goal, professional training network, and hierarchical relationship are losing validity. Demand for looking into the characteristics of how the young generation form their arts company, how they characterize their work, and where satisfaction generates. In depth focus group interview of leaders and members of arts company has been performed to define job characteristics followed by factor analysis. Result shows that work autonomy is most important characteristic of their work. Among factros affecting job satisfacion turned out to be leadership followed by mutual relationship among company members and feedback on their performance. It could be concluded that despite the growing need for multi-cpacity (including managerial competence) for the arts company members, they define it to be the leadrship’s task and maintain themself in the relm of artistic pursuit.
