The Effects of Directed Music Imagery on Reducing Tension, Anxiety and Stress in Office Workers

초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Directed Music Imagery(DMI), a receptive music therapy intervention, on tension, anxiety, and stress in office workers. A total of 32 participants were included and assigned to either an experimental group, which engaged in DMI, or a control group, which received no treatment. The intervention consisted of a 10-minute online program conducted five times per week for two weeks. Measures included the Smith Relaxation States Inventory(SRSI), the Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), and the Stress Response Inventory(SRI). The results indicated statistically significant differences between the two groups in tension and anxiety levels, but no significant difference was found in stress levels. However, significant changes were observed within the experimental group in tension, anxiety, and stress. These findings provide evidence that Directed Music Imagery is an effective intervention for managing tension, anxiety and stress in office workers.
