The purpose of this study is to investigate the longitudinal impact on student adaptation to college(academic, social, general adaptation) and academic achievement of college admission system. For analysis, data from KELS’s 7th, 8th and 9th and the HLM 7.0 program was used to analyze by Multi–level Growth Model. The results are as follows. First, the initial value of students' adaptation to college to admission officer system is higher than that of non-admission officer system students. Second, as the time passes, the gap between the admission standard and college life adaptation value is decreased. Third, the academic achievement is increased with time, but the influence of the admission type on the academic achievement is not revealed. Fourth, male students’ adaptation to college life is higher than female students', whereas female students’ academic achievement is higher than male students'. Fifth, the students in metropolitan universities shows higher initial values in adaptation than those in non-metropolitan universities. Finally, the academic field has effects on initial achievement, but the change rate is little difference among the fields. The results imply that the current student admission methods through various types of college admission system has selected excellent students who meet the criteria of introduction at the beginning, but it seems that the difference almost disappears. The results of this study suggest to improve educational quality in college education rather than to focus on developing differentiation system for college entrance.
