초록

Sodaeseong-jeon is an important standard in understanding Korean old novel. Although the author has not been identified, there is a lot of work-related records to prove that Sodaeseong-jeon existed as a Korean-letter novel before 1794. Since it has been popular for a long time, there are many versions left, including the woodblock-print version, the manuscript version (including lending library book, Chinese translated books), and printed version. However, the study on version has not been studied very much compared to the importance of this work and the variety of the version. In previous studies, it was common to describe that Sodaeseong-jeon largely divided to Seoul-version type and Jeonju-version type. Recently, it was further subdivided into new type(C type), has the mid-range features of a A type(Seoul-version type) and B type(Jeonju-version type). I focused on the 78-sheet manuscript of Yonsei University's. In previous studies, this manuscript is explained as the work appeared in the middle of the transition from the Seoul-version to Jeonju-version, or appeared after the A type and B type were formed. However, after detailed comparing the Yonsei University version with the Seoul 36-leaf edition and the Jeonju 40-leaf edition, I knew that the Yonsei version was not expanded form the 36 edition, and the Yonsei version was not completed by combining the 36 edition and 40 edition appropriately. The Yonsei University vesion was able to recognize that it had appeared before the Seoul version and Jeonju version, and decided that it was necessary to classify the models of this nature as "Original type." of Sodaeseong-jeon. Through this original type, We can see the status before the Seoul type and Jeonju type appeared. Therefore, it is only possible to learn, educate, and study the original type like Yonsei University version in order to reach a more reasonable understanding of Sodaeseong-jeon.
