he international community - in transition from Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) - has set one of its main goals ‘Quality education for All’ as of 2015 (UNESCO, 2015). The purpose of this study is to highlight the educational environment and issues of refugee children who have been marginalized from the public education system, under the international community’s efforts to achieve the SDGs. Based on existing literature, the study identifies international trends and approaches in refugee education, and reveals educational status and challenges in the case of refugee children living in a Thai refugee camp by adopting ethnographically informed qualitative research methods. The significance of this study lies on its contribution to refugee education discourses and research particularly with a focus on the context of developing countries where there is a considerable research gap despite increasing number of refugees.
