The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Arts PROPEL–based animation club activities on the social competence of middle school students from migrant backgrounds. Using a convergent mixed-methods design, a 12-session program was implemented with 14 students in a multicultural special class at a middle school in Gyeonggi Province. Quantitative results showed a statistically significant improvement in social competence in the experimental group, while qualitative findings indicated positive changes in sociability, interpersonal adaptation, social participation, initiative, and popularity. These results suggest that Arts PROPEL–based animation activities are an effective educational intervention for enhancing social interaction among migrant-background students.
